Missions Events Meet My Ministry Family Kids!

Summary

28 volunteers (3 months old to 81 years old) make 27 blankets! With the help of the Zimmerman and Davis families: fundraising and planning were done in advance of this first Vibrant Faith outreach project at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Oshkosh to benefit the Fond du Lac chapter of Project Linus. We met in Our Savior's fellowship hall at 8:00am on Saturday February 20, 2010 to start preparing tables and getting the supplies out and available for the volunteers arriving at 9:00am. With additional online promotion via our church website: www.OSLCosh.org and Facebook, several people decided to come early to help set-up and participate that had not originally registered. Overall, we had 28 volunteers, with a cross+generational range in ages from 3 months to 81 years old! There were four preparation tables where volunteers cut the fleece to size; cut-out corners; and started to cut strips for tying. At one point during the morning, we had six blankets being tied at the same time. We finished our last blanket at 11:15am - more than ahead of the planned schedule. The blankets were placed in the sanctuary and then blessed by Pastor Kemp Jones and the congregation during the Sunday morning worship service. We look forward to making many more blankets for Project Linus in the near future!
